  • Buzz Line: "Who really cares about Brunei"
  • Eagle Eye: It's a tiny Kingdom officially known as the "Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace" located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in southeast Asia. Brunei became a sultanate in the 14th century and is currently ruled by the stinking rich Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (born:1946) who's family believe this resource rich enclave and all its money belongs to them. He is the head of state with full executive authority and runs this tiny country like its his own little boutique firm, and often give handouts to the muslim population to keep them happy. Of course he gives ten-fold handouts to his family and best buddies, and waste the rest on his extravagant lifestyle..
  • Hot Spots: Really not any hot spots to talk about. The capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is a tiny and very boring town. The rest of this enclave includes good jungles and islands good for diving, and not to mention the Sultans palace, the Istana Nurul Iman Palace, and other multi-million dollar playhouses of his buddies. Generally an expensive place to travel compared to the neighbouring Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, and Indonesian Kalimantan.
  • The Low-down: A quick visit to the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is in order to see the mosques which I was most interested to photograph. For the jungle, head next door to cheaper Sabah, Sarawak, and Indonesian Kalimantan.
